Our Wet n Wild Reptiles
Wet and wild refers to the types of reptiles that we have that just dont fit into a catagory by themselves that we just want to talk about.
For example, we currently own four Yellow Bellied Sliders, and one Red Eared Slider.
These little aquatic turtles are really my 'sons' turtles, and even though hes five, he loves to take care of them and does it with the utmost care.
The one featured on the left here is Swimmer, right after we got their aquatic setup finally finished.
He is hiding under one of his fake plants next to the ramp (which is the white thing there), since he is extremely camera shy and can be quite a dork.
He loves to "strut" around the tank in front of the other turtles since hes a little bit bigger than they are, and he really has one heck of an attitude.
Honestly Swimmer and myself havent gotten along since we first got him, but we have come to an understanding that if I feed him, and he stays out of the way and doesnt bite me anymore, that we can get along respectfully!
The other turtles belong soley to myself and my son, who takes care of the only one with interesting markings on his face, which he has named Speedy Ocean.
I bought my son a YBS back in July of 2011 when my husband and I went to the KC Reptile Expo. Just this last month he passed away from unknown reasons.
I knew he wasnt eating and finally he gave up the ghost.
It was a sad day for all of us, but my son came to the understanding that things do die, and we buried him in my Moms backyard and my son put flowers on his grave.
It was a solemn experience, but since then he has given every ounce of his attention to Speedy Ocean, just like he did with the original Ocean.
So anyway, this page is going to be mostly about our aquatic turtles, their setup and things of that nature.
